The Pakistan Railway is all set to enhance the passenger’s experience while introducing the latest technology to its services to facilitate travelers in a better way. Pakistan Railways have taken an initiative to launch Free Wi-Fi and e-Ticketing services. For the implementation of these services to provide a better travel, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique is supervising the committee for the completion of this plan and these services are expected to be effective within upcoming couple of weeks.
Availability of free Wi-Fi hotspot on all divisional railway stations will be made possible accordingly. This service to enjoy Wi-Fi under the hotspots assuring faster internet connectivity will be absolutely Free of Cost for the passengers traveling to their respective destinations. Availability of Free Wi-Fi was only limited to business class trains only in the past couple of years. But, last year this service was also introduced to Green Line Train.
Furthermore, the plan for the ease of customers to book their tickets for their destinations will be made possible, by accessing through the tele-conferencing facility available at all divisional level railway stations. For this purpose, an agreement had already been signed by United Bank Limited and Pakistan Railways to provide a hassle-free experience to the passengers, providing them with the e-Ticketing facility.
UBL Omni mobile app, debit or credit cards can be used to purchase the tickets. Once the ticket is booked through above portals, a text message will be sent to the user, providing details about train date, time and seat number.
These services are still not announced officially by Pakistan Railways (PR) but we can expect the services to be available soon. It is a great initiative taken to facilitate the travelers, introducing new technological services on the board.
