Chinese Company to Set up Bus Manufacturing Plant in Pakistan
KARACHI: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor more commonly known as the CPEC is a mega plan of international standards which has indeed opened several new fronts for business gambles that were virtually untouched between Pakistan and China in the past.
In one such expansion, a well-known Chinese brand – Yutong Bus – has shown interest in making investments in inter and intra-city bus facilities in the Sindh province.
An 11-member delegate of Yutong Bus, headed by General Manager Shi Cun Tu, expressed their interest while in a discussion with Naheed Memon, the chairperson of Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), at her office this Tuesday.
The discussion covered various aspects of investment in pursuit of inter and intra-city bus services in Sindh, including Karachi.
The delegacy informed the SBI C.E.O. that their company was keenly interested in pouring money for the purpose of running buses on different routes in Karachi. The delegation also said that the company was interested in laying out an assembly plant for the purpose.
Memon greeted their proffer and noted that there indeed were many openings of investment in the transportation section in Sindh and the regional government would persist to promote public-private affiliation schemes.
The Chairperson of SBI asked the delegacy to turn up with proposals on the basis of their precedence so that the Sindh administration could take further steps accordingly.
According to the Sindh Finance Department, the Sindh administration is all geared up to apportion Rs3.19 billion for the transportation and mass transit network in the budget plan for the financial year 2017-18.
