Forget 3G and 4G: Pakistan plans to launch 5G Services in 2020
The long anticipated ‘5G’, the fastest internet services on the planet is expected to launch within the next couple of years. Anusha Rahman, State Minister of Pakistan Information Technology declared that Pakistan is all set to have a proper coverage of 5G technology by 2020.
She also revealed that Pakistanis will have a complete access to latest broadband technology by the end of 2018, at the ITU-PTA Asia-Pacific Regulators Roundtable conference 2016 held in Islamabad on Monday.
To ensure the fastest connectivity among the nation, the government of Pakistan has taken an initiative to launch 5G cellular services soon in the country, Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning & Development (P&D) further assured on Thursday.
Is it Possible to Launch 5G services before 2020?
It is an inflexible target to launch 5G services before 2020 in Pakistan, the Telecom Industry critics stated. We all know that 5G services aren’t available anywhere around the globe. Countries like China, UK, US, and Japan have all strategize for the launch of 5G services by the year 2020. Pakistan is going to benchmark their target.
3G and 4G technology users of Pakistan will be able to benefit from the next level cellular network technology as the 5G services will be launched in the near future, the Minister further added.
While he was addressing ‘Pakistan StartUp Cup Competition’ for young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs, held in collaboration with the US Embassy and the Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Islamabad.
What is 5G?
Technology intellects are still uncertain to define 5G properly, it stays obvious that 5G will be a true game-changer in terms of technology, allowing users to download and stream large chunks of data within seconds. 5G connectivity and streaming speed is considered to be thousands time faster and more swift than the regular 4G LTE data transfers. China has successfully done a pilot phase in conducting a test of 5G in this regard, with a transfer speed of 3.5Gbps.
We can just make a speculation on the government of Pakistan to successfully introduce the services of 5G by 2020.
