Competitive Bidding Process Finalized: Pakistan Railway to buy 55 Rail Transport Vehicles from US
The Pakistan National Assembly was updated on Monday that Pakistan Railways is going to purchase 55 engines from the United States at the cost of 213,689 Million US Dollars.
Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister of Railways, informed the national assembly that after the finalization of bidding process Pakistan Railways has signed the contract with General Electric, USA worth of 213,689 Million US Dollars on June 20, 2015 and these engines would be 4000 to 4500 HP.
He added that previously Pakistan Railways has purchased 63 engines in the year 2013-14 against the agreement with CSR Ziyang, China.
Moreover, he highlighted that the total amount paid out on the purchases of these locomotives was 129.688 Million US Dollars.
Sheikh Aftab, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, addressed to the house on Monday that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has suffered a lot in terms of losses (approx 255 Billion Rupees) till the end of 2015. The loss stood at 156.22 Billion Rupees at the end of march, 2013 and now it increased to 255 Billion Rupees. He underlined that currently there is no Chief Executive Officer for PIA on a permanent basis.
He mentioned that PIA was currently operating its flights to nineteen countries including:

Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training, notified the house that the main reason for assigning less proportion of GDP towards education due to the less availability of fiscal space.
He highlighted that tax to GDP ratio was only just 8.1% in 2013 and after the good performance given by the government it increased to 12.2%. The public expenditure has raised up from 520 Billion Rupees (2012-13) to 768 Billion Rupess (2015-16).
Likewise, GDP percentage is raised from 1.97% (2012-13) to 2.5% at present.
